FAQ:
Can a chiropractor perform acupuncture?
A chiropractor in Ontario is able to perform acupuncture after completing an accredited course the meets the requirements set by the College of Chiropractors of Ontario. Acupuncture is an extremely complimentary tool for a chiropractor since our scope includes diagnosis and treatment of injuries or disorders relating to the muscle, joint, or nerves. The acupuncture needle allows us to penetrate the skin barrier and directly influence the targeted tissues.
Does acupuncture hurt?
With the painless insertion technique used in contemporary acupuncture, there should be minimal discomfort. People may experience a light poke on insertion and sometimes feel achey pressure when the needle is entering a tight or injured area. Rarely, do people experience pain with acupuncture.
Can I expect to be sore after?
It is common for people to experience some soreness after acupuncture but it is usually mild and feels similar to workout soreness.
Can I still work out during treatment?
Absolutely. There may be some different exercises prioritized at different parts of your recovery but complete rest is usually not recommended.
How many visits will I need?
This can depend on a few variables like, severity, history of injuries, level of activity, overall health status, and structures involved. Generally, when creating a treatment plan, we meet more frequently in the beginning (once-twice a week) and taper as progress is seen. Usually, people experience a benefit after two-four sessions.

My name is Ryan and I've been using acupuncture to treat neck pain, back pain, sports injuries and more, for almost a decade now. I've learned a lot. I've seen a lot of people find great benefit from trying acupuncture, especially folks who are a bit more apprehensive about it. Sometimes, people have tried acupuncture in the past and it hasn't worked for them. Acupuncture techniques vary and can have different effects on the body.
